The West Virginia Hope Scholarship program is now accepting new applications for the 2026-2027 school year. New this year, all West Virginia children in grades kindergarten through twelve are eligible to apply for the scholarship. These expanded eligibility rules allow existing nonpublic school and traditional homeschool students who were not previously eligible for the scholarship to apply for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Hope Scholarship allows West Virginia parents to build an individual learning experience that works best for their child. The Hope Scholarship Program allows K-12 students who chose educational options outside of public education to receive financial assistance that can be used for tuition, curriculum, and other qualifying educational expenses. The Hope Scholarship Program is not a supplemental education program – students may not remain enrolled full-time in public school and also receive the scholarship for a given school year.

As a reminder, all Hope Scholarship applications require a WVEIS ID as part of the online application process. If you do not recall your student’s WVEIS number or your student has never attended a West Virginia public school and needs a WVEIS number created, please complete the WVEIS ID Request Form and email the completed form to the county board of education in which you reside using the special email address located HERE before starting your student’s Hope Scholarship application.

The application deadline for new students to receive full funding for the Hope Scholarship for the 2026-2027 school year is June 15, 2026.

Current Hope Scholarship Recipients: Don't forget to submit your CPC! Current Hope Scholarship students who wish to renew their participation in the program during the 2026-2027 school year have until June 15 to submit their Continuing Participation Confirmations. Failure to submit the CPC by the deadline will result in the loss of any carryover funds in the student’s account and the student will be considered a new applicant for next school year with a reduced funding amount.

The Hope Scholarship Operned to Everyone!

New scholarship recipients must submit a letter of intent to the county board of education office.  The above email has the link to each county office.  Send your letter of intent to the county in which your reside.
